Angela Bassett Reacts to Teyana Taylor SNL Promo

*Angela Bassett shared her delight over Teyana Taylor’s homage to her 1995 movie “Ready to Exhale” forward of Taylor’s internet hosting debut on “Saturday Evening Reside.” The 2-time Oscar nominee wrote on social media, “I like this sooo sooo a lot!!!! You bought me GOOD! xoAng.”

The promo reimagines Bassett’s well-known “crash out” scene, wherein her character Bernadine reacts to a betrayal. Within the clip, forged member Ashley Padilla tells Taylor that Andrew Dismukes ate her saved eggplant parmesan. Taylor channels Bernadine’s fury, storming into Dismukes’ dressing room, eradicating objects from the partitions, and setting some belongings on hearth. She exclaims, “You don’t deserve this, Bernadine!”

The recreated scene mirrors Bernadine’s iconic second, when she hauls her husband’s possessions outdoors and units them and his automobile ablaze to reclaim her independence. Watch the SNL clip beneath.

“Ready to Exhale,” based mostly on Terry McMillan’s 1992 novel, additionally starred Loretta Devine, Lela Rochon, and the late Whitney Houston.The romantic comedy-drama debuted at primary on the North American field workplace in 1995, incomes $14.1 million in its opening weekend. The movie went on to gross $67.05 million domestically and $14.4 million internationally, bringing its whole worldwide earnings to $81.45 million.

Taylor, lately nominated for an Oscar for “One Battle After One other,” presently stars alongside Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in “The Rip.” She’s going to host SNL this weekend, with Geese because the musical visitor.

“Saturday Evening Reside” airs reside on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET / 8:30 p.m. PT.
