Scarbrough had began neighborhood fundraising efforts for a memorial in January. She arrange a GoFundMe web page that originally obtained about $3,000 by the tip of the month.

Now, she’s raised greater than $35,000, with plans to pay for a memorial and far more.

Scarbrough plans to make use of the donated funds to launch the nonprofit Sade’s Voice Basis, which can perform Robinson’s legacy, “by talking out for primarily underserved BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Individuals of Shade) people who’re lacking, murdered, or whose instances have been uncared for and mishandled by media and regulation enforcement,” the GoFundMe web page reads.

The cash may even fund nonprofit occasions, grants, scholarships, and self-defense programs for younger girls within the Milwaukee space.

The person accused of murdering Robinson, 33-year-old Maxwell Anderson, is scheduled to go on trial in Might. Authorities consider he killed Robinson and dismembered her physique after they went on a primary date on April 1, 2024.
