Afro-Funk Jazz Artist, Plunky, Branches Out in New Reggae Direction on His Latest Single, “I’ll Be There”

Nationwide — Plunky, a musician who has been on the forefront of Afro-centric jazz, funk, and go-go for over 50 years, has launched his group’s newest single, “I’ll Be There” on N.A.M.E. Model Data. The brand new single carried out by his group, Plunky & Oneness, marks a departure from their standard sound, with a reggae-influenced R&B observe that showcases Plunky’s heartfelt vocals and emotional lyrics.

“I’ll Be There” is a music about loyalty and constancy, with a lover pledging their devotion to their long-term associate. Plunky composed the melody and lyrics over a drill rhythm observe produced by his son, Hearth, and DJ Diallo. The sparse, dub-reggae rhythm observe spotlights the music’s poignant message and soulful efficiency by Plunky and his background singers.

The accompanying music video, shot on location in Montego Bay, Jamaica, options breathtaking footage of the tropical setting and creates a wistful backdrop for the lover’s pledging declaration. The video with its aerial drone footage was directed by Hearth and edited by Plunky.

DJ Papa D, MC and music director of Dub Get together FM Radio in Jamaica, has already been enjoying preliminary mixes of “I’ll Be There” on his radio present, and receiving great responses from his listeners. Plunky stated, “The suggestions from Papa D and his viewers has been encouraging and validates the vibrancy of the observe and the common sentiment of the music.”

Plunky has been on the forefront of Afro-centric jazz, funk, and go-go for over 50 years. He has woven these interrelated musical varieties right into a forward-looking message of empowerment, positivity, and cultural consciousness. Plunky and Oneness of Juju’s landmark African Rhythms file was launched in 1975 on the pioneering D.C.-based indie label Black Hearth. Plunky’s band discovered itself in a position to transfer with the instances, scoring early ’80s home/disco hits and touring in each Europe and Africa.
