A.M.E. Church Mourns Death of Bishop Carolyn Guidry at 87

The Proper Rev. Carolyn Guidry, the 122nd elected and consecrated bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, died Could 3, the church introduced. She was 87.

The retired prelate died at residence after a short sickness; she was surrounded by her household, The Christian Recorder – the A.M.E. Church’s newspaper – reported.

Guidry was born in Jackson, Miss., on Aug. 25, 1937. She acquired an affiliate’s diploma in enterprise and secretarial science from J.P. Campbell Faculty in Jackson, then went on to review economics at Tougaloo Faculty in Tougaloo, Miss. In 1977, she graduated from Los Angeles Bible College (beneath the auspices of Talbot Seminary) with a four-year certificates in faith and Bible. She later earned a grasp’s in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary.

Bishop Guidry is survived by 5 sons, one daughter, 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and plenty of little children within the ministry.

Funeral preparations haven’t but been finalized.
