The Sunday, 11 January episode of Carte Blanche investigates allegations of an elaborate lodging rip-off within the Western Cape.
A businessman is accused of swindling property house owners out of enormous sums by advertising so-called luxurious lodging for contractors seconded to Koeberg Energy Station.
The scheme reportedly entails five-star guarantees, “fortunate packets” and premium bedding, whereas contractors allegedly obtain kickbacks to favour his providers over rival suppliers.
As contractors money in on inflated lodging prices, property house owners are allegedly ignored of pocket, elevating critical questions on corruption, exploitation and oversight within the system.
