Lizzo’s New Yr’s decision for 2026—to be a b—comes from a barely sudden place: a dialog with a Trump supporter.

The 37-year-old R&B star shared the unconventional decision and its stunning inspiration on Thursday (Jan. 8), in a Substack publish recounting a current alternate with a self-described supporter of President Donald Trump.

In line with Lizzo, the unnamed lady requested whether or not she may be “in bother” after revealing she voted for Trump within the 2024 presidential election as a substitute of his Democratic challenger, Kamala Harris. She went on to clarify her reasoning, claiming that Black folks had been “enjoying the sufferer” when it got here to Trump’s rhetoric.

“Trump may not say the nicest issues, however he’s a bully,” the lady instructed her. “We’re in a time of warfare; we’d like bullies, not diplomats.”

The remark caught with the “Reality Hurts” singer as she mirrored on what she described as a tumultuous 12 months of watching folks’s rights turn into susceptible.

“The one one to defeat the bully is The B—,” Lizzo wrote. “So my New Yr’s decision is to be a B—.”

“A B—’s prickly confidence shakes the core of evil,” she continued. “You’ll be able to’t disgrace a B— by calling her b—, as a result of she is aware of she is. You can’t damage Ms. B— anymore, she is impervious to phrases.”

The Grammy winner inspired readers who plan to undertake the identical ethos to start with a easy act of affirmation.

“I wish to put on B— like a go well with of armor adorned with battle scars of my healed trauma,” she wrote. “I’ve toiled within the armory banging the dents, I bear in mind the ache. I’m greater than okay with it. I have fun it.”

Remembering that ache is vital to unlocking the angle, she added.

“Let the reminiscence cost you up, from 1% b— to the restrict,” she urged, including, “B— is the pure evolution in a world designed to tear you aside. At this level bitch is rattling close to crucial.”

Lizzo emphasised that this model of being a “b—” isn’t about changing into hardened, merciless, or detached to others. Fairly the other. It’s about caring so “deeply” that anger turns into gasoline for motion in opposition to what she referred to as the bullies of the world.

She concluded: “A B— is aware of precisely when to get offended, and admittedly, we ain’t offended sufficient.”
