Bollywood Icon Rekha to Attend Red Sea Film Festival for ‘Umrao Jaan’

Bollywood celebrity Rekha is ready to attend Saudi Arabia’s Purple Sea Worldwide Movie Pageant for a particular screening of Muzaffar Ali‘s freshly restored movie “Umrao Jaan,” which shall be proven exterior of India for the primary time.

The 1981 basic, starring Rekha in her Indian Nationwide Movie Award-winning efficiency as a courtesan-poetess in Nineteenth-century Lucknow, has been restored by the Nationwide Movie Growth Company-Nationwide Movie Archive of India underneath the Nationwide Movie Heritage Mission.

And witnessing an unprecedented second when a 1981 basic, ‘Umrao Jaan,’ is featured within the competition’s Treasures strand alongside a movie by the luminary filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock shouldn’t be solely a blessing however humbling to the core.”

The fifth version of the fest will run Dec. 4-13 in Jeddah, on the Purple Sea’s jap shore.
