‘Joker,’ ‘Monkey Man’ Producer Anjay Nagpal Named IFFLA Director

The Indian Movie Competition of Los Angeles has tapped producer Anjay Nagpal as its new government director.

Nagpal’s producing credit embrace Dev Patel’s directorial debut “Monkey Man,” Todd Phillips’ “Joker” and Jay Roach’s “Bombshell.” As a studio government, he labored on movies together with “Greyhound,” “The Inexperienced Knight” and “The Survivor.” He has been a devoted advocate for South Asian storytelling, producing “Monkey Man” and growing a collection on the Mughal Empire and variations of Abraham Verghese’s “Chopping for Stone” and Aravind Adiga’s “Final Man in Tower.”

With experience in financing, manufacturing and world distribution, Nagpal has been a purchaser and vendor of movies at main worldwide festivals. His monitor report for figuring out expertise contains backing first options from Jon Watts (“Cop Automobile”), Julia Ducournau (“Uncooked”) and Justin Tipping (“Kicks”).

Nagpal’s relationship with the competition predates his appointment, having first attended as an viewers member earlier than taking part in IFFLA’s Trade Days program.

“Christina Marouda has labored for years to create a timeless competition, and I’m honored to work along with her and the remainder of the IFFLA workers and supporters to take IFFLA to new heights,” Nagpal mentioned. “It’s an unimaginable time for South Asian and diaspora filmmakers, and I’m desperate to nurture and champion their work.”

The competition’s twenty fourth version is scheduled for April 23-26, 2026. The decision for entries for the IFFLA 2026 Shorts Competitors opens Oct. 22, 2025.

Based in 2002 as a nonprofit, IFFLA has advanced into one of many premier U.S. platforms for South Asian cinema, fostering dialogue amongst unbiased storytellers from South Asia, the diaspora and the worldwide movie trade.
