From movie to science to sound, these innovators are altering the world for the higher.

Look no additional than the latest announcement of the 2025 class of MacArthur Fellows for proof that Black people are reshaping how we inform tales, defend the planet, construct group and make music.

This yr, 5 Black artists, scientists, musicians and activists are among the many 22 recipients of what’s popularly generally known as the “genius grant,” an $800,000, no-strings-attached award from the nonprofit MacArthur Basis. This yr’s crop of Black geniuses is pushing the boundaries of creativity, innovation and concepts that change our world for the higher.
