Viral Video Shows Restaurant Owner Confronting Black Customer After Not Leaving Tip

Nationwide — A now-viral video reveals a heated argument between restaurant proprietor, Kenny Chou, and a Black buyer who didn’t go away a tip. The incident has sparked discussions on race and tipping tradition within the nation. The incident occurred outdoors Desk to Stix Ramen in Evanston, Illinois.

Within the video, Chou was caught on video yelling on the buyer, who stated he paid $20 for a $19 meal and didn’t owe extra. “What would you like, bro? I paid for my meals,” the shopper stated as Chou adopted him.

Chou responded with profanity, accusing the person of injuring his employees’s earnings. “Shut your goddam f—— mouth. How are my employees speculated to become profitable? I’ll slap the s— out of you,” he shouted.

The altercation ends with out bodily confrontation, however the video has drawn widespread criticism on-line. Many imagine the shopper was unfairly focused due to his race, whereas others argue that tipping shouldn’t be obligatory and eating places ought to pay truthful wages as an alternative.

After the video went viral, Chou instructed CBS Information Chicago that he takes full duty and regrets his actions. He apologized publicly and even supplied the shopper’s brother a free meal together with a handwritten observe of apology.
