Meet the Black Woman Empowering Others, Using Her Own Trauma to Advocate for Mental Health

Nationwide — Necia Brunson, a 31-year-old inspirational African American lady professionally generally known as Necia B., is utilizing her voice to spark therapeutic throughout the nation. A Philadelphia native who grew up battling melancholy, trauma, and suicidal ideas, Necia B. is now a psychological well being advocate and revealed writer on a mission to empower others. Her story, as soon as marked by ache and silence, is now a supply of energy, compassion, and transformation.

Rising up in a family of eight kids, Necia confronted overwhelming challenges, together with bodily and sexual abuse, abandonment, and poisonous relationships. “I used to be crying out for assist, in search of love within the fallacious locations, and shedding myself within the course of,” she remembers. Her psychological well being hit all-time low after a number of suicide and murder makes an attempt that led her to be hospitalized. “It obtained so darkish I even began questioning God. Final 12 months, Necia B. launched her debut poetry e-book, The Journey of My Life, an intimate journey by the trauma she endured from childhood into maturity. The e-book displays her ongoing path to therapeutic and self-discovery. “I’m nonetheless therapeutic, rising, studying, and maturing,” she says. “However I survived the storm. And now, I’m able to share my ache, my fact, and my testimony.”

Right now, Necia B. serves as a strong speaker with RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest Nationwide Community) and continues to encourage others by her writing, advocacy, and neighborhood work. Her message is evident: ache is actual, however so is hope. And her story proves that the darkest storms can result in the brightest futures.
