Tia Hamilton’s Bookstore Faces Racial Harassment

Proprietor Tia Hamilton has been receiving threatening racist messages on City Reads’ social media accounts.

The proprietor of City Reads Bookstore in Baltimore, Tia Hamilton, advised CBS Information that her store has been intimidated and focused by progressively worsening racial harassment on on-line boards.

Since its founding in 2019, Hamilton used City Reads to advertise literacy and uplift the Black group. In her journal, State vs. Us, Hamilton discusses mass incarceration and systemic racism, highlighting the voices of those that have been wrongfully incarcerated in her items.

She believes that her advocacy has made her a goal for racist threats to City Reads.

On her Instagram, Hamilton has posted a collection of screenshots documenting the disturbing social media threats to carry consciousness to City Reads’ plight. Nevertheless, the severity has been getting worse, and it’s taken a toll on Hamilton’s psychological well being.
