The groom’s social gathering even ensured that the normal reward of cattle was offered throughout the lobola proceedings, taking the effort and time to respect the bride’s tradition regardless of the groom coming from a far completely different background.
Custom not ‘promoting off’ the bride
The custom of lobola is commonly misunderstood as paying for the bride-to-be’s hand in marriage however the reality is the custom is supposed to forge bonds between the 2 households.
