“Hatred and racism haven’t any place on this group. And the place this conduct turns into prison, I’ll be certain that we act, and act with swift resolve, as we did right here, to uncover it and convey it to the sunshine of justice,” Gulluni wrote.

“There isn’t any query that the alleged conduct of those six juveniles is vile, merciless, and contemptible.”

Gulluni was made conscious of the incident on Feb. 15 and instantly prompted the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit to research. The investigation discovered the chat was created by a gaggle of Eighth-grade college students who expressed “hateful and racist feedback,” together with racial slurs, derogatory photos, and movies.

Gulluni mentioned he personally met with the victims and their households and is disenchanted that issues like this are nonetheless taking place in 2024. “Seeing it and dealing with the fact that these ideas, that this ugliness, can exist inside center college college students, right here, on this group, in 2024 is discouraging, unsettling, and deeply irritating,” he added.

In conclusion of his assertion, Gulluni listed his plan “to assault this downside in Hampden County with the hope that we are able to forestall future hurt, encourage empathy, and construct stronger communities freed from hate.” Along with having conversations with Massachusetts Legal professional Common Andrea Campbell and a legislation enforcement unit known as HART, standing for Hate-crimes Consciousness and Response Staff, the DA desires so as to add a curriculum surrounding hate and bullying.
