Rainbow PUSH will host “Let Freedom Ring,” a free public occasion, on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) nationwide vacation on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 5 p.m. on the historic Fox Theatre.  “We’ll honor a number of luminaries whose deeds have exemplified the lifetime of Dr. King. These exemplary people have been social justice stewards of humanity and their actions live proof that Dr. King’s dream is alive, ” stated Rev. Jesse L. The Let Freedom Ring recipients embrace Decide Greg Mathis and “Large Sean,” who might be honored with the Hold Hope Alive Award; Bishop John Drew Sheard, presiding bishop of 6 million COGIC members, will obtain the Theological Management Award; and Maha Freij, president and CEO of ACCESS and Amy Nederlander, co-founder of L!fe Leaders, will obtain the Social Service Award.

Harry Belafonte, an in depth buddy of Dr. King and an internationally-acclaimed actor and singer, whose life challenged the world to shine the sunshine on humanity and the least of those, will obtain the Rainbow Push Humanitarian Award posthumously. He was a prophetic, religious and civil rights advocate whose messages impressed every of us. He was the president of the Detroit Department NAACP and led the Progressive Nationwide Baptist Conference. The Harvard College of Divinity graduate can even obtain the Rainbow Push Humanitarian Award posthumously.

Earlier Let Freedom Ring Award recipients have included Nobel Laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Wayne County Neighborhood School District Chancellor Dr. Curtis L. Ivery, “Queen of Soul,” Aretha Franklin, Congressman John Conyers, Detroit Information Writer Jonathan Wolman, KEM, Blake Corum and others. Dr. Martin Luther King Excessive College Dance Workshop and Cass Technical Excessive College Ensembles will present the items of dance and music respectively. Errol Service Jr., will present an inventive tribute to Harry Belafonte.
