On Tuesday, the Workplace of Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson was joined by members of the neighborhood to host a wreath-laying ceremony at Borough Corridor to recollect the 17 residents whose lives have been misplaced throughout a lethal fireplace at Twin Parks North West. The five-alarm fireplace that occurred the morning of Jan. 9, 2022, has been known as New York Metropolis’s deadliest in over 30 years.
“It`s been 2 years because the horrific fireplace at Twin Parks North West, and our borough continues to mourn,” mentioned Gibson. “We are going to always remember the 17 lives misplaced on at the present time, the households of those that have been impacted by this tragedy, the bravery of our first responders, and the help from our metropolis businesses, neighborhood organizations, colleagues in authorities, hip-hop artists and others who confirmed up for our neighbors throughout our borough`s best time of want. Twin Parks was a painful reminder of the work wanted to spend money on fireplace security schooling and our metropolis`s housing infrastructure so households are supplied with secure and high quality housing and we stop a tragedy of this magnitude from ever taking place once more.”
Along with a wreath-laying ceremony, flags have been flown at half-staff outdoors Bronx Borough Corridor.
