‘Vibrant’ 10-Year-Old Girl Struck By Two Cars While Walking Home from School Devasting Texas Family, Community

An Arlington, Texas, elementary faculty pupil was killed whereas attempting to cross the road final week.

Liyah-Grace Holsey, a 10-year-old fifth grader who went to Mary Moore Elementary faculty, was hit by two automobiles final Thursday afternoon, Dec. 14. The incident occurred close to Park Springs Boulevard and West Sublett Street whereas she was strolling house from faculty, the Dallas Morning Information experiences. 

Officers decided that Holsey’s method of dying was an accident. In line with the report, the drivers remained on the scene and spoke to responding officers.

Arlington Police Sgt. Courtney White informed NBCDFW that the drivers had the inexperienced gentle, and no fees have been filed in opposition to them. Native residents described the intersection as busy, the place crashes are frequent.

“It’s not a really protected intersection,” Bryan Seely informed the information station. “Numerous fast-moving automobiles, numerous street-racing.”

One other resident, Leslie Balboa, echoed comparable sentiments when chatting with CBS Information: “They run crimson lights. They don’t cease. They don’t care to cease. They simply go.”

The college acknowledged the tragedy, including that counselors could be obtainable for college students and school.

“Phrases aren’t enough to explain the grief everybody within the Arlington ISD feels as we speak, particularly our college students, workers and households at Mary Moore Elementary College, after studying that Liyah-Grace Holsey, a fifth grader at Mary Moore, died after being struck by a car whereas crossing the road after faculty yesterday,” the assertion stated. 

“Liyah-Grace was an exquisite pupil who beloved to sing a lot that she joined the choir and by no means missed a apply. She will likely be deeply missed and by no means forgotten.”

Holsey’s household created a GoFundMe, which has raised almost $26,000 as of this writing. They’re in search of funds to cowl the kid’s funeral preparations. Within the caption, they touted Holsey as a “vibrant” woman adored by many.  

“She was so lively and beloved her household immensely,” the fundraiser stated. “She beloved taking photos. You could have even seen her in a TikTok along with her mother, LeAnn! Gracie will likely be missed dearly, particularly for her singing and inquisitive nature.”
