Letter from Black activists demands Biden to call for Israel-Hamas cease-fire

1000’s of Black students, activists, and artists are becoming a member of requires a cease-fire amid the continued Israel-Hamas battle, echoing sentiments expressed by some members of Congress.  

On Monday, Black4Palestine, a corporation comprised of Black activists rallying behind Palestinians, put forth an announcement calling for a cease-fire to protect harmless civilian lives within the Gaza Strip.

The group says the letter obtained over 2,000 signatures from outstanding Black political figures, together with political activist Angela Davis and theGrio’s very personal Marc Lamont Hill.

Khury Petersen-Smith, an organizer with Black4Palestine, instructed theGrio, “Everyone must be elevating their voices to talk out in opposition to, and doing what we will to finish, the siege and have a cease-fire.”

Human rights groups want to see ceasefire and restraint in Israel-Gaza war

Within the letter, Black activists lay out an inventory of calls for for the Biden-Harris administration, which embody, enacting “a direct cease-fire,” “ending the U.S. obstruction of Palestinian protections in opposition to genocide below worldwide regulation,” and stopping the “pressured displacement of Palestinians in Gaza outdoors of Palestine.” 

The letter from Black4Palestine comes a day after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected repeated calls for a cease-fire amid the Israel-Hamas battle.   

Petersen-Smith instructed theGrio, “Whereas clearly, Netanyahu is deeply liable for the genocidal violence…I actually need to level to the White Home, particularly, as a result of the U.S. has given the inexperienced mild.

“The Israeli protection minister on Oct. 9 referred to as individuals in Gaza ‘human animals’ after which lower off meals, water, gas and electrical energy in [the Gaza Strip]. These are violations of worldwide regulation,” he stated.

For weeks, activists, human rights teams, and members of Congress have demanded a cease-fire.

Earlier this month, Home Democrats launched a measure demanding the Biden-Harris administration name for a cease-fire to deescalate the Israel-Hamas conflict and to cease Israel from committing conflict crimes.

Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., instructed theGrio that the Biden-Harris administration is “enabling” the violence that has erupted within the Gaza Strip.
