Members of a widely known motorbike gang have been indicted for allegedly attacking three Black males in California earlier this 12 months.
The fees stem from an incident in June within the Ocean Seashore district of San Diego. Members of Hells Angels Bike Membership and their supporters are accused of beating, hurling a racial epithet, and chasing the victims out of the neighborhood, in response to the San Diego County District Legal professional’s Workplace. The victims’ ages vary between 19 and 21.
Prosecutors stated the assault presumably occurred after one of many victims spoke to a gang member’s girlfriend. Through the incident, one was capable of escape. The second sufferer was punched so onerous that he was knocked unconscious. The third, per officers, was overwhelmed to the bottom by a number of members.
“Longtime Hells Angels chief, Troy Scholder, pulled out a knife, rolled the sufferer onto his aspect, and stabbed him within the chest, cracking the younger man’s sternum,” the press launch stated. “After making an attempt to kill the sufferer, Mr. Scholder casually folded up his knife and walked away. In early September, a grand jury determined to indict 14 members on assault to trigger nice bodily damage “with a gang affiliation,” in response to the press launch. Eleven of them have been hit with a hate crime, and the grand jury added one other three who allegedly drove Scholder to the group’s clubhouse in El Cajon following the assault.
Officers stated that seventeen suspects pleaded not responsible and have been arrested on Sept. 21, and authorities discovered medicine and 42 unlawful firearms. NBC San Diego reported that Scholder was charged with tried homicide, is in custody with out bond, and will face 39 years to life behind bars.
“These disgusting hate-driven assaults don’t have any place in our neighborhood,” Police Chief David Nisleit stated in a press release. “There is no such thing as a stronger strategy to condemn this violence than to carry the perpetrators accountable to the fullest power of the legislation.”
In line with the press launch, the group is understood “to have a virulent streak of racism” by showcasing hate symbols and imagery.
