U.S. Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove, D-Calif., held a press convention this week to rejoice 50 years of hip-hop.

“It’s important to protect,” he stated. “Hip-Hop is my tradition. It’s the tradition that raised me. It’s the tradition that impressed me. It gave me data of self. It taught me politics and a lot of what my work in Congress is rooted in.”
