Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs donates $1M to Jackson State University

Sean “Diddy” Combs donated $1 million to Jackson State College (JSU) one yr after promising to take action on the 2022 BET Awards.

Via the Sean Combs Basis, the music mogul gave $1 million to JSU’s soccer workforce, based on Individuals. Combs offered an outsized test to the college throughout JSU’s soccer recreation on Aug. 25. He posted an excerpt of an ESPN clip of him presenting the test in the course of the recreation on his Instagram web page on Aug. 28.

“I wouldn’t be right here if it wasn’t for HBCUs,” Combs wrote within the caption. “It’s my honor and my accountability to assist the HBCUs! The work they’re doing is to be recommended! My grandmother raised me to sow my seed in my neighborhood, and that’s what I’m going to proceed to do!!”

The “Been Across the World” rapper attended Howard College, a distinguished Traditionally Black Faculty and College in Washington, D.C.

Combs said that many HBCUs are “under-resourced” and that his donation to JSU was his likelihood to step up and “do one thing about it.”

Earlier that Friday, Combs additionally offered a $1 million funding test to Earn Your Leisure (EYL) and founders Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings, as seen in a video posted on EYL’s Twitter web page. EYL helps “rising and established content material creators.” Combs’ funding will assist monetary literacy and be distributed to his tri-state space constitution colleges.

In June, Combs additionally pledged funds to the Apollo Theater in his native Harlem. He obtained the Icon Award on the Apollo’s annual spring profit gala, however airplane troubles saved him from attending. Regardless of his last-minute absence, he recorded a video message thanking the Apollo, and Combs Enterprise President Tarik Brooks, who accepted the glory on his behalf, introduced Combs would donate $250,000 to the establishment.
