The Atlanta Metropolis Council has come below fireplace for demolishing a resident’s house mistakenly and is now suing the resident to pay for the demolition price. The council stoked controversy in March this 12 months after mixing up its order and demolishing a century-old house owned by Everett Tripodis and his household. The household had meant to renovate the construction earlier than bulldozers unexpectedly razed all the construction.

Metropolis inspectors mentioned the construction was uninhabitable attributable to litter and susceptible entrance, regardless of Tripodis’ household’s adherence to authorized necessities by itemizing the property on Atlanta’s vacant property registry. The official demolition listening to discover was for Lawton Avenue zip code 30314. However Tripodis’s house is on Lawton Avenue, which is within the 30310 zip code about 1.4 miles away.

Now, Tripodis is going through one other dilemma. Metropolis authorities are demanding he pays for the $68,000 price of the demolition. He mentioned when he was served with the papers, he thought it was a letter of apology and a choice to compensate. However, to his disappointment, the Council was taking authorized motion to compel him to pay saying it intends to foreclose and take the property, in accordance with WSB-TV.

Regardless of public outcry, the council has not rectified the scenario and has repeated the error, intensifying frustration for Tripodis. He had already taken authorized motion towards the town for the preliminary demolition mistake, a case that is still unresolved in Fulton Courtroom.

Moreover, he now faces a foreclosures lawsuit, requiring a response inside a number of weeks. The mayor’s workplace is but to elucidate the rationale behind their motion, solely tersely indicating that they’re investigating the matter.
