Sudan delays signing of deal to usher in civilian government

KHARTOUM, Sudan (AP) — Sudan’s navy leaders and pro-democracy forces will delay the signing of an settlement to usher in a civilian authorities, either side stated in a joint assertion issued early April 1.

The postponement of the signing — which had been scheduled for later April 1 — comes as key safety reform negotiations between the Sudanese military and the nation’s highly effective paramilitary Fast Help Forces seem to have reached a impasse.

Navy generals met with pro-democracy leaders that very same day within the capital of Khartoum and agreed to signal the deal on April 6, stated Khalid Omar, a spokesman for the pro-democracy block, in a separate assertion.
