Stewart Copeland, founder and drummer of The Police, is teaming with Indian musician Ricky Kej on “Police – Past Borders” the place the legendary rock band’s basic songs are recreated in international languages.

The songs embody “Each Breath You Take,” “Roxanne” and “Message in a Bottle.” Reinterpretations are within the Kannada, Zulu, Mandarin, Armenian, Pashto, Urdu and Hindi languages, amongst others.

The album follows Copeland’s “Police Deranged for Orchestra” BMG album, launched in June, the place the band’s hit tracks, organized for full orchestra, are revisited.

Copeland and Kej beforehand collaborated on “Divine Tides,” which gained two Grammys.

“It was Ricky Kej who instructed that we make an album out of The Police derangements and it was a lightbulb second. The thought of listening to these songs in international languages was instantly inspiring and Ricky set about discovering the magnificent skills on this document. The music that Sting, Andy [Summers] and I created with The Police basically derives from Black tradition and it was notably spine-tingling to listen to that tradition arriving again in Africa with ‘Each Breath You Take’ sung in Zulu,” Copeland stated.

“The flavors of all these wonderful languages on ‘Police – Past Borders’ mild up these tunes which are so acquainted. The Police was at all times a world band and Sting wrote songs in regards to the larger image of humanity. Music brings us collectively and my humble hope is that this document can contribute to that particular human bonding expertise that we’d like now greater than ever,” Copeland added.

“It’s a enormous honor to collaborate with Stewart Copeland but once more. These are songs that I’ve grown up listening to and songs which have formed my profession. I’ve paid a variety of respect to their legacy,” Kej stated. “We’ve collaborated with wonderful orchestras, singers, choirs, instrumentalists and ensembles from around the globe to recreate the magic of those timeless classics in international languages.”

“Police – Past Borders” will probably be launched by BMG on Aug. 18.
