Colorado man charged with hate crime for allegedly leaving threatening voicemails for Rep. Joe Neguse

Authorities in Colorado have introduced a hate crime cost in addition to felony costs towards a 59-year-old man who allegedly left threatening voicemail messages for U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse. The Democratic lawmaker is Colorado’s solely and first Black elected member of Congress.

In addition to Neguse, Kennedy can be accused of leaving threatening and “racially-charged messages” for Democratic politicians, together with Denver Mayor, Michael Hancock – who can be Black; U.S. Rep., Diana DeGette; and Colorado Gov., Jared Polis. 

The son of Eritrean immigrants, Joe Neguse made historical past in 2018 when he turned Colorado’s first Black U.S. consultant. He additionally retained his seat in 2020 and 2022.
