6-Year-Old Black Boy Burned By Water Fountain at His School Due to a Plumbing Mishap

Nationwide — Idris Ekeize, a 6-year-old African American boy from Orange, New Jersey, is recovering after struggling second-degree burns from ingesting scalding water at his elementary college. In line with his mom, Matilda, the incident occurred at Lincoln Avenue College when her son tried to get a drink from a water dispenser within the gymnasium—solely to be sprayed with sizzling water attributable to a plumbing mishap. The water fountain was reportedly linked to a sizzling water supply as a substitute of chilly.

The college district launched a short assertion acknowledging the incident and stating that an investigation is underway. They haven’t made any further feedback. In the meantime, Ekeize has taken her son to the hospital, the place medical workers confirmed the severity of his burns.
