Africa Trend, the landmark exhibition at the moment on show on the Brooklyn Museum in New York, celebrates modern African trend by that includes greater than 300 items of clothes, textiles and jewellery from the motherland. Tongoro

Thebetsile “Thebe” Magugu is a South African designer. Born in Kimberley and primarily based in Johannesburg, he rose to prominence because the winner of the 2019 LVMH Younger Trend Designer Prize and as a finalist within the 2021 Worldwide Woolmark Prize.

Nigerian designer Lisa Folawiyo began her label in 2005 with 12 yards of material and her mom’s help. Her work options conventional West African textiles which can be interpreted via fashionable tailoring methods.

Born and bred in Dakar, Senegal, Selly Raby Kane turned her illustrated designs into a group, coming back from Paris to Senegal to host her first trend present in 2008. A mixture of African and worldwide cultural inspirations takes priority in her designs.

Artistic Director Aisha Ayensu based this Ghanaian-based luxurious trend model in 2008. The model identify Christie Brown is in honor of her grandmother, a seamstress, and the numerous artisans and visionaries who helped set up a voice for African trend.
