34-Year-Old Black Mom of 5 Dying From Cancer is Writing a Book For Her Kids

Nationwide — Kourtni Smith, a 34-year-old mom of 5 from St Mary’s County, Maryland, is at the moment battling terminal most cancers with exceptional braveness, aiming to encourage others and lift consciousness in regards to the significance of searching for medical assist early on.

Kourtni’s battle with most cancers started in 2021 when she was identified with Stage 3 invasive lobular carcinoma.

“I’m asking them query like, may or not it’s this, stuff I’ve examine on-line and so they stated ‘no, it’s most cancers,’” she informed WUSA9, reflecting on the preliminary analysis.

By April, it had progressed to Stage 4, and not too long ago, docs knowledgeable her that the most cancers had unfold to her mind, leaving her with just a few months to dwell. Amidst the heartbreak, Kourtni focuses on creating lasting recollections together with her household and getting ready for what lies forward.

Her husband Andre stated, “Our 2-year-old son, he all the time retains us smiling. So it’s actually the youngsters that’s retaining us up like this.”

Trying again, Kourtni stated she regrets not going to the physician sooner when she observed a dimple in her breast. Sadly, her concern at the moment prevented her from searching for medical consideration till after her child’s start and he or she couldn’t produce milk.

After enduring 3 rounds of chemo and radiation and spending 3 weeks in hospice, Kourtni now depends on ache remedy for consolation. She is going to depart behind her husband and 5 kids.

“I might need them to know that I really like them, and I really like them a lot,” Kourtni stated. “I might go to any drastic measures to verify they’re okay. Even behind the grave.”

To assist her household throughout this tough time, Kourtni has personally arrange a GoFundMe web page for funeral bills.

Moreover, she is engaged on a kids’s ebook as a long-lasting legacy for her kids.
