25th Annual First Ladies High Tea was Held Last Sat. (05-21-23)

*(Los Angeles, CA) — The L.A. Focus‘ twenty fifth Annual First Women Excessive Tea was a splendid affair celebrating its twenty fifth Years Silver Jubilee. L.A. Mayor Karen Bass made caring remarks to the sold-out occasion honoring Grammy-Winner Yolanda Adams, Gospel singer, actress, and Nationwide syndicated radio host,  with the Legacy Award, L.A. Supervisor Holly Mitchell with the Spirit Award for Neighborhood Service Award, and Tony Waller of Walmart with the Focus Award.

The First Women’ honorees: Florence Boyd of First A.M.E. Church, Patricia Monroe of Redeemer Baptist Church, Pastor Themebekila Coleman-Good of Christ Liberation Ministries, and Angel Value, Crenshaw Christian Middle, have been honored for his or her service to the neighborhood and the work they do of their respective church buildings.

This 12 months’s co-hosts have been Actress Wendy Raquel Robinson (The Recreation, Insecure, Bear in mind Me: The Mahalia Jackson Story) and First Woman and KBLA/Speak Radio Persona Dr. Shalonda Crawford. Additionally in attendance have been Erica (Mary Mary) Campbell, and Congressmember  Sydney Kamlager-Dove, L.A. Metropolis Councilmembers Curren Value, Heather Hutt, LADWP Chair Cynthia McClain-Hill, and Assemblywoman Tina McKinnor.

Gospel legend Tramaine Hawkins gave a dynamic efficiency on the tea, and one other of the afternoon’s highlights was the announcement of the winners of the L.A. Focus Annual Essay Contest. Open to women 16-18, ten winners acquired financial awards for use to additional their training. This 12 months’s essay theme was “Religion Over Concern: Unleash Your Potential.”

The afternoon tea was held on the Beverly Hilton Lodge in Beverly Hills, CA.  700+ plus attendees, dressed of their Sunday finest apparel adorned with fascinators or hats as they have been served a  conventional afternoon tea menu.

Metropolis Councilmembers Curren Value and Heather Hutt, Assemblymember Chris Holden, Mark Ridley Thomas Committee for a Higher L.A.  Additionally supporting the occasion with door prizes have been Goal, the L.A. Clippers, and Truxton American Bistro.

About First Women Excessive TeaFounded in 1998, this afternoon tea is a red-carpet affair for the Who’s Who of ladies within the church and the Black neighborhood, that includes superstar friends, neighborhood leaders, and honorees that has turn into an annual custom.  Within the twenty-plus years since its inception, the tea has served to encourage girls, each younger and outdated, to hitch forces and create a motion of service in the direction of one another, the communities by which they stay, and God whereas additionally offering scholarships to at-risk youth and galvanizing the religion neighborhood round crucial points which might be impacting it. Previous honorees embrace U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, former California First Woman Maria Shriver, Oscar Nominee Cicely Tyson, former LA County Supervisor Yvonne Burke, famend vocalist Nancy Wilson, gospel recording duo Mary Mary, TV One founder Cathy Hughes, actor/activist Hill Harper and, to call a couple of.
