2025 Earth Day festival brings community together in Harlem

The 2025 world Earth Day observance will likely be held on April 22 to lift consciousness and encourage adults and youngsters to study and have interaction in defending the surroundings. On April 13, a number of organizations, households, and mates gathered in Harlem for a 2025 Earth Day Pageant in St. Nicholas Park.

The Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Integrated® (AKA) hosted the community-action occasion in collaboration with Pals of St. Nicholas Park, The Trash Mission, and Nasty New Yorkers.

“Earth Day holds particular significance for Tau Omega Chapter as a result of it permits us to highlight the environmental challenges impacting the Harlem neighborhood. We consider in selling collective accountability to take care of our inexperienced areas — efforts like planting 100 saplings throughout our occasion are a mirrored image of that dedication,” mentioned Valerie M. Henderson, president of the Tau Omega Chapter of AKA.

Harlem residents participated in park cleanup efforts, gardening workshops, environmental schooling periods, face portray, and humanities and crafts. They listened to music and acquired giveaway gadgets. Some even stopped by the Nasty New Yorkers Pop-Up Retailer, which provided free clothes and home items to advertise reuse and sustainability. The occasion strengthened every partnering group’s dedication to ecological restoration and bettering inexperienced areas in city communities.
