11-Year-Old Black Boy Who Called Police For Help Shot By Responding Officer

Nationwide — Aderrien Murry, an 11-year-old African American boy from Indianola, Mississippi, was critically injured after being shot by a police officer in his own residence when he known as 911 for assist. He has since recovered and his household remains to be looking for solutions and demanding justice.

Aderrien was shot within the chest by an Indianola Police Division officer who responded to a home disturbance name on the youngster’s house. Murry made the decision as informed by his mom, Nakala, who felt threatened when the daddy of considered one of her youngsters got here to their house in an agitated state at about 4am.

The officer, Sgt. Greg Capers, who’s Black, reportedly had “had his gun drawn on the entrance door and requested these inside the house to return exterior,” in accordance with CNN.

As Aderrien obeyed and walked into the lounge, he was shot within the chest. Her mom mentioned Murry then stored asking, “‘Why did he shoot me? What did I do flawed?’”

In a sit-in protest held at Indianola Metropolis Corridor, his mom and others are calling to have Capers fired and charged with the taking pictures in addition to to launch the body-camera footage from the incident.

“We consider that town and the officer needs to be liable to Aderrien Murray, for the damages they’ve prompted,” Moore mentioned.
